Our 2nd annual Naughty or Nice pub crawl will be held once again

at the Reston Town Center

Tuesday, December 28th @ 7p.m. – ???

starting at Jackson’s (11927 Democracy Drive)

*** $10 DONATION ***

I know this is very short notice, but we tend to get things done when we wait until the last minute for some reason…it’s just a $10 donation which will go into our chapter’s general fund to help support our upcoming training in the spring…we encourage you to (but you’re not required to) dress up in your favorite naughty or nice holiday themed costume…if you don’t want to do that, wear your helmet (make sure you’re allowed to!) and show your pride with a chapter t-shirt (let me know if you need to buy one!)…

THIS EVENT IS OPEN TO EVERYONE, SO BRING A FRIEND, WIFE, GIRLFRIEND, WHOEVER!

THERE ARE PLENTY OF HOTELS IN THE AREA SO YOU DON’T HAVE TO DRIVE HOME — PLEASE THINK AHEAD AND HAVE A DESIGNATED DRIVER OR GET A CAB

New Chapter Mailing Address

Until we can come up with a better way than our current system (mailbox address in Reston), all chapter mail can be sent our chapter president’s home address. This will ensure any letters from the International, as well as any dues mailed in, will be received in a timely manner. Our current mailing address is a PO Box in a Mailbox Etc store in Reston, and is not very practical or cost-effective. Please use the following address until further notice, and do NOT address anything to Northern Virginia Fools, just put it below the address as follows:

New Officer Appointed To EBoard

The officers and members of the chapter would like to welcome brother Amos Akers to the Executive Board position of Training/Education Trustee. As most of you know, brother Akers was one of the first to join our chapter back in 2006. He is a volunteer with the City of Manassas and is currently a career firefighter with Tower Ladder 619 in Loudoun County. Amos plans to bring a little excitement back to our chapter’s training curriculum. Welcome to the EBoard!

Fright Night Brotherhood Bash

Come join your brother and sister firefighters for some Halloween fun and Foolish brotherhood at Kilroy’s in Springfield on Saturday, October 30th at 7:00pm. Only $10 donation at the door with some proceeds benefitting the Fairfax Fire Hockey Team. Costumes recommended, but not required. Where your lid if you’re allowed. Upcoming Training (Dates/Locations Pending)

We will be hosting a number of training events during late summer and into the fall this year. Some things still need to be ironed out, but are in the process of being completed. All dates, times, locations, etc, are still pending. These ideas were voted upon during this month’s membership meeting. Anyone wishing to help out (in any way) is to contact a member of the EBoard. Class A Uniform, Fools Style!

Over the last couple of years the fire industry has taken many turns. One of them is the emphasis on when and where a firefighter can wear a Class A uniform.

In years past, most departments allowed their personnel to wear the Class A to any function (parades, lectures and other FD related activities) and one did not have to get permission to do so. Today, though, is a different time and we are looked at in a different light. These days if you wear your Class A to any event, you must get permission from your department because in their eyes, you are officially representing your department. Even further, some departments will discipline their employees (as far as termination) if an individual is found wearing their Class A uniform without permission.
